Land Acknowledgment

We at Peak Tours and Transit acknowledge the historical physical and cultural genocide of the Indigenous people of the Pacific Northwest by white settlers and the colonialism which continues to displace Indigenous people today.  We recognize the resilient communities of Indigenous peoples who continue to thrive in this region despite the consequences of displacement and broken treaties.

Once white settlers seized this land, they passed Laws to forbid Black migration to Oregon, and to punish Black migrants who came here. The consequences of these laws still reverberate through Oregon and have created lasting racial inequity.

We pledge to seek ways to assist in the dismantling of systemic racism, and to stay conscious of our culture's inherited racism, so that we may strive to overcome it. We understand these words are meaningless without action.
